Sanda Coat & Jacket Pattern

An oversized coat or jacket with a rolled collar and turn back cuffs. Coat has inseam pockets and jacket has patch pockets. Choose to make either lined or unlined.

Skill level: Intermediate

Recommended Fabric:
Dry oilskin, oilskin, linen, 8 -12oz denim, wool, corduroy, cotton twills or canvas. A heavier weight cloth will result in a more structured jacket.

For linings we suggest M&M barrier lining if using an oilskin, otherwise - cotton voile, lightweight linen, cotton poplin, and slip linings.

Materials Needed: 

  • 1 x Matching thread
  • 4 x 3/4" buttons (jacket)
  • 6 x 3/4" buttons (coat)
  • 1/2 YD pocket bag lining (unlined coat)
  • 1/4 YD patch pocket lining (unlined jacket)
  • 1/4 YD of 1/4" seam tape
  • 1.5 YDS interfacing (coat)*
  • 1 YD interfacing (jacket)*
    *Interfacing not needed if using oilskin
