Elling Trousers Pattern

The Elling is an everyday elasticated men's trouser with slanted front pockets and back patch pockets. You can also give your trousers an optional front zipper.

Skill Level: Intermediate

This is a multi-size paper pattern in an envelope, including UK sizes 28 - 48. 

All seam allowances are 1.5cm unless stated otherwise and are included in the pattern. 

Recommended Fabric

Suggestions include 5-8oz cotton twill or canvas, denim, light to medium weight corduroy, linen, hemp/cotton blends, or medium weight cotton flannel. Picking a thicker fabric (like canvas or corduroy) a will give you a more structured shape.

Materials Needed:

  • 1 x 7 inch/18cm zip
  • 1 x 3/4" button
  • 1/2 yd interfacing
  • 1/2 yd lining fabric
  • Matching thread
  • 1.5" wide elastic: 1 yd (sizes 28-32), 1.25 yds (sizes 34-38), or 1.5 yds (sizes 40-48)
